Caledon East United Church Afternoon Concerts
In 2011, with the help of (now obsolete) Brampton Arts Council, Koichi founded a classical music concert series called Brampton Chamber Music Concert Series. These concerts were held first at Rose Theatre Studio Two (2011 & 2012), and then at St. Paul's United Church Brampton (2013-2020). After the pandemic, we moved our location to Caledon East United Church, where the church graciously offered us to use their sanctuary for our concerts for free of charge.
These concerts feature emerging artists to help them build performing experiences, and enliven cultural life of the community. The concerts will be held on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon starting at 1:30pm, and admission is free. Please visit the Facebook page as well as the website of Caledon East United Church for updated information about these concerts by clicking the buttons below.
There will be two types of artists who will be invited to perform in these concerts: professional artists & students preparing for performance diploma exams (such as ARCT).
For professional concert series, any artists who hold music performance degrees from accredited universities, and/or who possess equivalent skills & performing experiences, are welcome to play in these concerts.
For students who are preparing for a performance diploma exam (ARCT, etc.), we will hold auditions in April to select students to be invited to play in our concerts. In addition to the audition process, outstanding students (who will likely receive First Class Honour or above in their exam) may send their list of musical achievement & video recordings to the artistic director for the audition exemption.
If you are interested in performing in these concerts, please send inquiry to Koichi (the artistic director): [email protected]
In addition to the Afternoon Concerts, Caledon East United Church also invites students and artists to perform at their Free Community Breakfast events which will be held on every first Saturday of each month. The free breakfast is open to the public and starts from 8:30am, and the playing event will start from 9:30am. There will be no audition required to play in this event, but please ensure that your playing will meet a certain performance standard. If you are interested in playing in this event, please email or call Grace (the church administrator) to book your time. Grace will be in her office on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
